Anabaptism at 500 years

2025 marks the 500th anniversary of the formative events that became known as the Anabaptist movement. On January 21, 1525, in Zurich, Switzerland (pictured), George Blaurock asked Conrad Grebel to baptize him as an adult upon his confession of faith. Others followed this example of believer's baptism, distinct from the general Protestant practice of infant baptism common at the time. Other core beliefs included non-violence, discipleship, separation from the world, care for the poor, a simple lifestyle, and communal accountability. The movement faced significant persecution, with many early Anabaptists suffering death for their beliefs. Yet the movement lived on and continues to impact the Apostolic Christian Church of America today. Follow the link below to hear three presentations which were given at this ETR-sponsored event in our Washington church on June 28.
